The Stax Pro2 from Malone provides an efficient, economical, and safe way to transport two kayaks on factory oval or aftermarket round or square load bars. The Stax Pro2 system features a set of octagonal aluminum posts that mount directly to the rooftop load bars to support the boats, as well as stacker blocks to cradle and stabilize the boats on the bars, 12-foot load straps to secure the boats to the posts, and 12-foot tie downs to secure the boats at their bows and sterns. Thanks to universal-fit JAWS mounting hardware, the posts install to the load bars without tools. Built for a lifetime of use, the aluminum posts and their injection-molded nylon platforms are rust resistant. The posts fold down easily for low clearance and to improve fuel economy when the system is not in use. The foam stacker blocks cradle the boats to both absorb road shock during transit and to stabilize the boats during transport. I needed to carry two kayaks. I have a 2000 Grand Cherokee with installation rack and cross bars. We have 10' kayaks. I know the Yakima bars are neat but I didn't want the expense. I was worried my installation bars would cause a problem, and they did, but it doesn't matter. The Malone principles is fantastic. Honestly, it felt more collect driving that when I just had one kayak strapped on with foam supports and tie down straps.

The poles attached just fine to the cross bars and felt secure, although they will wiggle around when you move them with your hand but that is a fault of the cross bars. Don't worry about it. I put the foam supports on the cross bars, as instructed, and tossed one kayak up there. The cross bars bend down so much that I was worried about adding the other one. My Jeep is 11 years old so maybe they're better now. I then removed the foam supports from the crossbars and just put them on the roof of the car. On the inside of each of the cross bars. They sat a combine of inches lower but when I put the kayak up then, it rested on them fine.

I just followed the instructions: loop the strap through the hole in the Malone pole, pull both straps over the kayak, running one underneath the crossbar and tighen it up. The kayak sat just fine up there before being strapped down. Although it is easier to do it with help, I could well get it up there to be strapped in by myself. The other one went up just fine as well. There is an extra strap included used to wrap the two boats together and I notion was a nice touch. I put tie down straps from each of the boat's front and back to the frame of the car but I could tell that was just so your mirrors could tell you if anything was wrong up top.

I well stressed and researched what to do to carry two boats because I well don't need to very often. My wife won't go as much as I do. No worries, I made the right decision. If you carry boats all the time, going long distance, then go Yakima. If you just want to run down to the lake without much hassle and not worry about losing a kayak, then this is for you. Interstate driving, 70 miles an hour... No noise or troubles. This is my first ever product recapitulate and I just notion I should tell you how impressed I am.

One note: The article says it can handle four boats. It may, but installation crossbars will not be wide enough. You'll need the Yakima or Thule principles for that.
