The Thule Sidearm Rooftop Upright Bike Carrier is the convenient and easy way to secure your bike on your roof without worrying about scratches to the bike or car. Designed to ensure that all connections between your bike and the carrier are via the edge of your tires, it utilizes a simple a one-armed locking ratchet mechanism, along with a rugged wheel tray to quickly clamp your bike into place. This frees up your other hand to stabilize the bike as necessary. Additional features include: compatibility virtually any rack system and all bikes with a wheel diameter of 20-29 inches and tires up to 2.6 inches wide, and installation configurations for both passenger and driver's side. The whole idea behind rooftop bike carriers is to provide the rider with ease of access to the most fully assembled bike possible once you get to your destination, but many carriers use mechanisms that require an awkward connection to your frame, or even force you to remove the front wheel. The result of this can be a struggle to hold the bike up as you fiddle with the carrier's locking mechanism at the same time. The Thule Sidearm Rooftop Upright Bike Carrier changes all that. The Thule Sidearm Rooftop Upright Bike Carrier provides a solid, easy to use and secure bike transport system that ensures maximum bike and car protection as all its components make contact with wheel only. The sidearm carrier is designed for individual bikes with 20-29 inch wheels and tire widths up to 2.6 inches wide. To secure a bike it utilizes the combination of a rugged wheel tray which snugly holds the tires of both wheels, a wheel strap to secure the rear wheel to the tray and a combination of a locking ratchet arm with patented SecureHook technology and a wheel loop that the front tire braces against. To use, position the ratchet arm and hook assembly in a forward and fully extended position, then lift the bike up and into the wheel tray, ensuring that the front wheel precedes the wheel loop. Next, with one hand holding the bike stable, use your other hand to rotate the support arm of the SecureHook to just above the tire and ratchet the arm tightly against the wheel. You should hear a a few clicks past initial contact with the tire that lets you know that your bike is clamped down good and tight. Lastly, cinch down the back tire to the wheel tray using the wheel strap. That's all there is to it. The Thule Sidearm also can secure your bike to the carrier and carrier to the rack with two locks (sold separately). Thule was founded in 1942 by the Thulin family, when Eric Thulin, a true lover of the outdoors, put the Thule name on a pike trap he designed and began to sell in Scandinavia. It wasn't long before he added other practical items to the company's portfolio. By the 1960s, the company began to concentrate on car-related products, including its first roof rack. The Thulin family sold Thule to the publicly listed company Eldon in 1979, and it has continued to grow both organically and through acquisitions ever since. The Thule Group is a world leader in providing transport solutions for an active life. Best 4 Buyoldsmobile 455 parts Automotive model parts-Autoparts On Sale
